A Quick Goal and Then More

Oct. 14 -   Talk about your quick starts.  Gavin McLeroy scored at 25 seconds into the game from an assist by Jinoh Bae and the Thunderbirds never looked back in cruising to a 8-0 win (link) on the road against South Puget Sound.  Ryley Johnson and Adama Kante each had two goals and an assist, and Million Teckie and Cris Garfias each added a goal and assist.  For Johnson, it was his team leading 10th and 11th goals of the year, while Kante now has 9 goals.   In the contest Highline put 23 shots on goal while T-Bird keeper Julian Tafolla made two saves against the anemic Clipper attack.

Highline now stands 8-0-1 in league play (11-0-1 season) and leads the NWAC West Division by eight points over second place Pierce. The T-Birds are one of two undefeated teams in the league, joining Whatcom (12-0-3).   Having scored 37 goals, the team is tied for fourth in the NWAC while in goals surrendered (7) it is second in the league trailing only Rogue Community College (6 goals allowed).

With three games left in the regular season, the team next plays at Bellevue on Oct. 18.

Win Over South Puget Sound

Highline's Abel Kidane advances the ball from midfield.

Ryley Johnson (5) gets tangled up with a Clipper defender. He would score twice
in the game for his team leading 10th and 11th goals of the year
