Road Loss

Sept. 26 - following a tough 5-set home win against Grays Harbor, Highline traveled to Tacoma (15-1 season, 2-0 league) and fell in straight sets to the Titans  25-22, 25-13, 25-14 (box).  The Thunderbirds hung tough in the first set, but tired legs and a very good Tacoma team proved to be too much for Highline to overcome.  Danielle Tabor led the T-Birds with 10 kills and Alexandra Toth had 17 sets.  Tacoma was led by Tasi Peredo's 10 kills and Ashtyn Bagby with 33 sets.  Highline, now 16-6 for the season and 1-1 in league,

Tough Win

Sept. 24  -  Kristen Anderson rose up as she had done so many times in the past two hours and smashed the ball past a pair of blockers. The difference this time was that her kill was match

point, giving Highline a hard fought win over the Grays Harbor Chokers  23-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-17,15-13 (box).  With the win, the Thunderbirds, ranked 7th in the first NWAC Alaska Airlines Volleyball Coaches Poll, improve to 16-5 for the season and 1-0 in league play.

It was a back and forth affair, with Grays Harbor taking the first set and Highline coming back to tie the match, then the Chokers again taking the advantage and another Thunderbird comeback, and then to the final set.  With 15 points needed to win and the match at stake, the final set was tied at 12-12 before Highline took three of the next four points, capped by Anderson's kill off a set by Alexandra Toth.

For the match, Danielle Tabor led Highline with 19 kills, followed by Kristen Anderson (15 kills), Jessica Markum (13 kills), and Megan Smith (12 kills).  Alexandra Toth recorded 48 sets and Aliya Ranis led both teams with 29 digs.

Highline next travels to Tacoma on Sept. 26 to take on the Titans in a divisional match.
